DAVID ROE
Director
Men’s Basketball Coach at Sagemont Prep. Coach Roe has been an instrumental piece in building Sagemont Basketball into a national powerhouse. In 2011, he helped Sagemont win its first state championship in any team sport. In 2014, The Sagemont Lions finished the season with a perfect record (33-0) and won their second state championship. This was the first time in the 80-year history of Broward County high school basketball that a team finished undefeated as state champions, ultimately earning a trip to the National Invitational Tournament in New York to battle for the best team in the country. The past two seasons, Coach Roe won back-to-back state championships (4th overall) and was selected Broward County Coach of the Year in consecutive years. Coach Roe has been to the State Final Four on seven different occasions (2011, 2012, 2014, 2015, 2022, 2023, 2024) and has helped send players off to college basketball with full scholarships to schools such as UCLA, Rice, UCF, South Alabama, Boston College, and top academic schools such as Columbia, MIT, Richmond, and Brandis. Additionally, Coach Roe has coached four NBA basketball players. He has been a large part of the South Florida basketball landscape for over a decade.
AJ Braziel
Head Camp Coach
Coach AJ is regarded as one of the top basketball trainers in Florida, serves as an assistant coach for Sagemont Prep, and is one of South Florida's premier travel basketball coaches. Coach AJ played from 2013-2017 as a starting guard for Florida Memorial University. During his time at Florida Memorial, he earned the honors of first-team all-defense and second-team all-conference. He began his coaching career as an assistant coach at Miramar high school where in his first year of coaching he helped the Patriots win a Big 8 championship. Coach AJ then moved on to be the head coach at Pines middle school and began his travel coaching career with SOH Elite. In his two seasons as an assistant coach at Sagemont Prep, Coach AJ has helped guide the Lions to the state championship game in consecutive years and won the title in 2023. Being a highly recognized professional skills trainer, he has trained all levels of players including NBA, G-League, and overseas professionals. In recent years, Coach AJ has worked with the likes of James Harden, Jeff Green, Deion Waiters, and Austin Rivers to name a few.
